Flexible Multiplexer (FMX2)
Nokia Siemens Networks’ Flexible Multiplexer (FMX2) is a compact primary access solution with excellent service flexibility.
It integrates SDH transport, 64 kbit/s cross-connect and flexible multiplexer facilities within one compact module while supporting all your legacy interface needs: voice, data, and Ethernet.

The FMX2 portfolio offers products to satisfy your widest range of requirements. Its great flexibility and high efficiency in dedicated and corporate networks make it ideal for handling any type of communication requirement.
With your requirement for service flexibility and focus on leased lines for legacy data, voice and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) applications, FMX2 enables fast and efficient installation and commissioning to ensure a rapid time-to-market.
The FMX2 has the following features:
- Up to 2 x 2 Mbit/s from a single multiplexer
- Multiplexing functions for speech and data signals
- Provision of subscriber interface (e.g. POTS, analogue 2-wire/4-wire, ISDN, V.24/V.35/V.36/RS530 and X.21)
- Low latency for time critical applications (e.g. Teleprotection)
- Highest product quality
- Fail safe networks due to extremely efficient redundancy
The business benefits
- Delivers lowest cost because all of the main features are installed into one sub-rack (e.g. multiplexer, cross-connect and transport)
- Allows you to rapidly set up and expand your network due to FMX2’s high-level of modularity
- Saves transmission capacity due to optimal usage of bandwidth
